Launched in 2012 as a cause to serve our Veterans’ and their families, the Big Stick Division of MDI and The Family of Women, VIDC was conceived as a signature, volunteer event to raise awareness and community involvement in assisting and caring for our military veterans.
In its first year the VIDC along with so many patriotic supporters raised more than $30K in sponsorships and in-kind donations. On July 4, 2012, over 200 volunteers prepared and served more than 1,200 BBQ meals to veterans (at bed-side and outpatient), homeless veterans, and veteran’s families. In addition the event featured onstage performances including The Long Beach Symphony, rock band, “Rock for Vets”, plus a Children’s Play Area, a vintage military vehicle display and information booths from community outreach programs.
Since that initial event the VIDC team has participated in serving veterans’ with volunteers and materials at other community events including, Operation Santa Claus and Veteran’s Super Bowl party. Our commitment and willingness to serve veterans’ continues to create incredible results, purpose and benefit the military service veteran community as a whole.
Big Stick Division of MDI is an organization that empowers men by providing them with the tools they need to succeed. This can come in the form of weekend trainings or weekly courses, one-on-one mentoring and weekly team meetings. As an organization we believe that true wisdom comes not from a single source but from the diverse viewpoints of our community of men. For more information about MDI visit www.mdisuccess.com
Mentoring Men to Lead, a 501(c)(3), is creating a better world by providing a way for men to become powerful leaders. We mentor men to learn, grow and be passionate about their lives. Then we provide opportunities for them to take action.
Imagine a world full of men who are inspired to assume responsibility and take up leadership, for the sake of our families, communities, and for the common greater good. All for the sake of a deep fulfillment of self-purpose. Imagine there is a world where men seek out these opportunities to give, in order to receive. Founded in 2012, MML was created to serve as a foundation and grant organization in support of the many outreach efforts of MDI and the communities they serve.
